Sony has unveiled its Xperia 5 II and it will be coming to Malaysia in December this year. Apart from packing a similar flagship processor and camera setup as the Xperia 1 II, the new Xperia 5 gets a couple of new features for a smoother gaming experience.
The Xperia 5 II has a 6.1″ Full HD+ OLED display that comes in a cinematic 21:9 aspect ratio.
Besides, for the first time on a Sony smartphone, the phone features a high 120Hz screen refresh rate and a 240Hz touch scanning rate. For an even smoother and blur-free gaming experience, Sony is offering a 240Hz Motion Blur Reduction enhancer feature which claims to provide the equivalent visual effect of a 240Hz refresh rate.
As for cameras, Sony has equipped the Xperia 5 II with a triple-lens camera system. It consists of a 12MP main shooter with a 1/1.7″ Exmor RS sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle shooter, and a 12MP telephoto camera. Meanwhile, the front gets an 8MP selfie shooter.
Also, the cameras are designed to capture more light for better low light shooting. Besides, it can also support continuous burst shooting up to 20fps and also real-time eye autofocus for faster focus when taking pictures of humans and animals. Shifting over to video, the device can also capture 120fps 4K HDR slow motion. All the lenses are Zeiss T* coated to reduce reflection and glare.
The Xperia 5 II features an array of audio technologies, including 360 Reality Audio, which you can experience it using wired or wireless headphones. It also comes with the audio optimizations to optimize sound quality and improve power consumption.
Other Gaming Features
The device includes a range of other features making it the perfect choice for gamers. The dedicated 3.5mm audio jack lets you plug in your headphones while charging your Xperia 5 II, while the improved graphene heat dissipation structure keeps the device cool all the time.
Hardware and Other Specifications
The device runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor that supports 5G as well as WiFi 6. Furthermore, it has 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB UFS storage which is expandable via microSD card.
In addition, the battery capacity is 4000mAh and it supports USB-PD fast charging via USB-C. Sony says it can get a 50% charge in just 30 minutes. Unlike the Xperia 1, there is no wireless charging but it still comes with IP65/68 dust and water resistance.
Lastly, Sony Malaysia hasn’t revealed Xperia 5 II’s official local pricing, but for the sake of comparison, it retails at $949 (about RM3,915) in the US market.
