Officially revealed price of PlayStation – Sony

Sony Corp said its next-generation PlayStation 5 console would launch in November priced at US$499.99 and $399.99 for a version without a disk drive, as it squares off against rival Microsoft Corp's Xbox console.

Sony has officially revealed the price of the upcoming PlayStation 5. From November 12, it will be available in seven major markets. This includes the United States, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Canada, Australia as well as South Korea.

In addition, Sony said that the global rollout will continue on November 19 and will be launched in other parts of the world including Europe, the Middle East, South America, Asia and South Africa.

The price of the PS5 digital edition starts at US$399, and the PS5 Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc drive is US$499.

“PS5 Digital Edition will be available for a recommended retail price (RRP) of $399.99 USD and PS5 with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive will be available for an RRP of $499.99 USD” Sony wrote in its blog.

Sony added that the pre-orders will starting on September 17, pre-orders will start at selected retailers.

Lastly, the company will provide gamers with a choice through two PS5 console options at launch, depending on whether consumers want a pure digital experience or prefer disc-based games.
