PETALING JAYA: Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim today said he told Pakatan Harapan PH MPs to allow Budget 2021 to pass the first vote. However they mount a battle in the coming committee stage debate on Monday.
He said the opposition coalition was moving towards opposing the budget while the finance minister had agreed to some” demands made by PH.
Anwar said the nod of the opposition to the passage at the policy stage was to allow wages, allowances and other payments for the civil service to be made.
Although some of the decisions taken by the finance minister seem to respond to some of our demands, we cannot firmly condemn them. Thus. I told our friends to agree to the first round.
“This is the first round. The detailed committee stage debate is scheduled for Monday,” he said today at a Parliament press conference.
He added that then it would possibly call for bloc voting.
