PUTRA JAYA: Police arrested 297 individuals for various recovery movement control order (MCO) violations, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic).

The violations involve no physical distance, the absence of face masks in crowded areas and the absence of customer registration and entertainment events, the Defense Minister said Monday (Dec 28).

He added that on Sunday (Dec 27), the police carried out more than 83,106 inspections to ensure compliance, including supermarkets, restaurants, hawkers, factories, government offices, banks and transport terminals.

Meanwhile, Ops Benteng has seen the detention of 22 illegal immigrants and four Tekongs.

“We will take action against those who unlawfully enter the country. On this, there is no compromise,’ he said Monday.

Ismail Sabri also said some 93,500 individuals have returned to Malaysia since July 24.

To date, at government designated stations, 7,771 people are being quarantined.
