The government is expecting to decide on the Covid-19 vaccine by early next year. The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Khairy Jamaluddin said.

The Ministry of Health is currently discussing the legal implications and procurement mode of the vaccine. The Ministry of Finance and the General Prosecutor’s Office join the discussion as well.
“We are also in direct discussion with other international pharmaceutical companies for direct supply without having to undergo the COVAX allocation plan.”
“I have also request for an agreement with China to finalise as soon as possible as the draft is almost complete.”
Khairy said that it is negotiating with COVAX for Malaysia’s participation in the facility to obtain the needed COVID-19 vaccine.
He said: “We are still discussing some issues with COVAX. The facility is for early purchase, so the procurement model is excellent. We pay for things that don’t exist yet.”
Among the companies that started the final COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials are Moderna, Pfizer and BioNtech, AstraZeneca, Oxford University and Johnson & Johnson.
