(Malaysia News) Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – The Ministry of Health has confirmed that 6 new clusters have been spotted. All of them are from peninsular Malaysia.
The new clusters all come from:
- Sungai Putus and Erima clusters in Selangor
- Tapak Bina Jalan Berangan cluster in Kuala Lumpur
- Langkasuka cluster in Johor
- Jalan College cluster in Negri Sembilan
- Sungai Keluang cluster in Penang
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said all the new clusters are involving workplaces.
Fortunately, every cloud has a silver lining. Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah also has announced that 3 previous clusters have come to a halt. These 3 include the Taman Laut cluster in Selangor, BMU cluster in Melaka and Ikhtisas cluster which spans Selangor, Kelantan and Negri Sembilan.
Overall, the government is monitoring 190 clusters. Out of the 190 clusters, 48 of them have reported an increase in cases today.

The patient for the Sungai Putus cluster in Selangor was identified during a screening taken place in a factory on December 9.
As of December 11, screening took place for a sum of 2,001 individuals. This confirming 427 of them to be positive for Covid-19. The cluster involves nine locals and 418 migrants.
For the Erima cluster also in Selangor, the patient was found during a COVID-19 screening.
“Following the case, employers conducted screenings on employees and located 28 more individuals who had close contact to the patient detected,” Dr Noor Hisham said.
As of 12pm today, 83 patients conducted screening, confirming 29 of them to be positive.
For the Tapak Bina Jalan Berangan cluster in KL, the discovery happened on December 9. It is a result of a targeted screening at a construction site.
As of 12pm today, 1246 individuals screened themselves with 6 confirming to be positive of COVID-19.
The Langkasuka cluster in Johor is the result of a patient spreading the virus in the workplace. The initial case was on the December 5th with the first patient declaring positive for the virus.
The Jalan College cluster in Negeri Sembilan comes from an individual confirming positive for Covid-19 after screenings done on December 3.
As of 12pm today, 35 individuals are screened, with 11 more positive cases confirmed.
For the Keluang cluster in Penang, the patient is a person who is returning to his home country. Screening took place for him which confirms him to be positive for the virus.
As a summary, the results of close contact screenings at the workplace further detects another 16 cases. More Malaysia news will come for updates on the situation.
