Malaysia’s Former Prime Minster, Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he will not participate in the next general election in 2023. He would be 98 years old in that year.
Bernama News Agency quoted him that he is willing to advise the new party, Pejuang Tanah Air that is being formed by him.
“I want to stay a bit longer but I thought I will serve for a short period,” he told the Kyodo news agency in Putrajaya. “But I will not be contesting in the 15th election,” said Mahathir.
However, He hopes his son, Mukhir will carry his legacy. “It is up to him. I will not stand in his way. It’s not fair to him.”
