Entertainment News: David Prowse, famously known for being an actor as Darth Vader in the Star Wars Trilogy, has passed away. The actor passed away at the ripe age of 85 years old, the reason for having a short illness. However, CNN reports that he had prostate cancer back in 2018, which could be a factor of his death.

Agent Thomas Bowington said: “It’s with great regret and heart-wrenching sadness for us and million of fans around the world, to announce that our client Dave Prowse MBE has passed away at the age of 85.”

American actor Mark Hamill, who played Darth Vader’s son, Luke Skywalker, alongside Prowse, sent his condolences in a tweet on Sunday.

“So sad to hear David Prowse has passed. He was a kind man & much more than Darth Vader,” he wrote.

Brief history

Before Prowse was an actor as Darth Vader within the Star Wars Trilogy, he was a competitive bodybuilder. He has competed in Mr Universe, where he became good friends with famous names like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno.

Prowse’s first movie he acted in was 1967’s Casino Royale, where he played Frankenstein’s Monster. Although the casting was focused towards Prowse’s broad and towering figure, he developed a powerful interest in acting and decided to pursue it further. Finally, he settled on acting as Darth Vader when he was offered the role by George Lucas.
