Celcom down! Customers rant on social media
On today (4 Oct), Celcom coverage in several parts of the country is presently facing network disruptions.
If you’re using Celcom and facing issues with mobile data and voice calls, you’re not alone.
It appears that there’s a network disruption at the moment. This causes some devices to show “no signal” or “emergency calls only” status.
Celcom has acknowledged the technical issue which affects their voice and data services in certain areas nationwide.
According to the blue telco, their technical team is working hard to resolve and restore its services as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Unifi has announced that Unifi Mobile customers outside their 4G coverage areas may face service disruption. Unifi Mobile relies on Celcom for domestic roaming in areas without Unifi’s 4G coverage.
This causes various complaints posted on the social media platform voicing their dissatisfaction over the interference of their phone line.
Then, the telecommunication company said “intermittent network issues” was the reason behind the disruption.
Celcom Network ‘Trending’
On Twitter, the Celcom disruption was ranked number one on the trending topic. Besides, the telecommunication company also received similar complaints on its Facebook page.
Celcom users claimed to have no network coverage from locations such as Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Penang and some had the SOS icon displayed on their phone screens.
On Celcom’s official website, Celcom posted a memo in regards to the situation. This includes important announcements section and explanations that there has been a service disruption.
“Customers in some areas nationwide may find their voice and data services experience affected due to a technical issue we are facing right now.
“Our technical team is working hard to resolve and restore services as soon as possible,” it said.
CEO issues apology, provides free data till midnight
Following this afternoon’s network interruption, Celcom has announced that its voice and data services are now up and running.
Restoration of its network has started at 6 pm and they have apologized for the inconvenience caused.
As a token of appreciation for its customers’ patience. Apart from that, Celcom will not deduct any data quota from 6 pm until 12 am.
Celcom CEO Idham Nawawi had tweeted an apology this evening over the network issue which started at 3 pm. He added that the free data usage is a token of appreciation for their customer’s support and patience.
“We truly apologize for the unpleasant experience. We are in the midst of rectifying this network issue as soon as possible”, he tweeted.
