IPOH: The new Perak government will remain a caretaker government until the Perak Sultan Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah has made a decision, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumuu Shah (pic).
He said that by selecting an assemblyman with the majority as the new Perak mentri besar, the Sultan would decide.
When I told him about the matter, it was just the Sultan and me in the room, while the state secretary and legal adviser were waiting outside.
“Sultan Nazrin will make a decision to choose any assemblyman who has the majority number. And until then, I’m leading the caretaker government (Dec 4).”
It will take some time for Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia to sit down and negotiate with the Perikatan Nasional state parties, Faizal said.
“We’re still with Perikatan. However, we are understanding that they made such a decision without debate (referring to the vote) hurts a little.
“But we need to make a decision and to solve the issue as soon as possible in order for us to serve the people,” he said.
Earlier, as the Mentri besar, Ahmad Faizal lost the movement of faith in him.
Ahmad Faizal had just 10 votes in favour out of 59 state seats, with 48 against him and one abstaining.
Umno has 25 state seats in the Perak assembly, while Bersatu has five, PAS (three), Gerakan (one and an independent rep, leaving 24 seats for the opposition.
