PS4 and PS5 players will get an exclusive Zombie mode from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War that lasts for one year. The new Zombie mode is called Zombies Onslaught. It is the new two-player co-op features waves of expandingly difficult zombie hordes reproducing and attacking. The goal is to kill every undead and survive.
How it works
The Zombie Onslaught mode will deploy you and your partner player to locations from various multiplayer maps. According to PlayStation’s blog, all players will have exactly the same custom loadouts. This is similar as they do in usual Zombies and Multiplayer modes.
When players appear on the map, the game will restrict their range of movements to a narrower area by a Dark Aether orb. Zombies will then begin spawning and attacking. Each following wave of the zombies will be tougher to kill.
After players defeat enough undead, the Orb will change locations. Players will be protected from Dark Aether harm if they are inside the Orb.
After players killed enough zombies and reached specific rank, they will receive rewards based on that rank. Elites defeated by players determine their ranking, starting from Bronze, Silver to Gold. Players can use the rewards throughout the Zombies and Multiplayer modes.
More information about Zombie mode
The Zombies Onslaught mode will be unavailable on other platforms until November 2021. However, the good news is the normal Black Ops Cold War Zombie storyline will still be available to all players when the game drops. In it, Soviet force Omega Group clashes with CIA team Requiem just to find out why supernatural events are occurring globally.
Activision has said that the Zombie storyline will expand in unexpected ways. The mode got some inspiration from the traditional Zombies mode in another series, World at War. This includes a similar location that emphasis on defending windows from intruding zombies.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will release November 13, along with the launching of the Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5.
